  : Since injury such as scalding could be caused by escaping steam or coolant, do not remove the engine coolant temperature sensor while the system is hot.

  : Engine coolant will damage the paint finished surfaces. If spilt, immediately remove the coolant and clean the area with water.

. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

. Remove the engine cover.

. Disconnect the ECT sensor electrical connector.



. Remove the ECT sensor.
  Lift the tang and rotate the ECT sensor anti-clockwise.
  Remove and discard the O-ring seal.




. Install the ECT sensor.
  Clean the component mating faces.
  Install a new O-ring seal.

. Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector.

. Check and top-up the coolant.
  Clean any remaining coolant from around the hoses and pipes.

. Install the engine cover.

. Connect the battery ground cable.
