My video files don't play on the Brightsign

If your video isn't playing, it might be an unsupported format, or doesn't meet the required specifications to play on the Brightsign. It might also just have the wrong extension. The first step is to download some sample content from our website.

  1. Check that your video file extension is either .mpg, .vob, or .ts. No other extensions are currently supported.
  2. MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 are supported on the HD600 and HD2000
  3. MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and h.264 are supported on the Compact models
  4. Verify the recommended bitrate of 25Mbps on the Compact models. 35Mbps is also supported in some circumstances. See the video quality technote for more details. 
  5. Verify a Maximum bit rate of 25Mbps on HD2000 (9Mbps on the HD600)
  6. Verify a Maximum resolution of 1920x1080
  7. For Compact models, verify videos are MPEG-1 System streams or MPEG-2 Program or Transport streams or H.264 Transport streams. We do not currently support .mov and .mp4 h.264 files, only h.264 transport streams.
  8. For HD2000s, verify videos are MPEG-1 System streams or MPEG-2 Program streams.
  9. For HD600s, videos must have a 48K audio layer, even if

 

Note: You can normally use the same authoring application to convert between video and stream formats. There are also inexpensive or free utilities available to convert between formats. Streamclip (Mac & PC) is a free program that converts easily between Transport and Program streams. Mpeg2VCR (PC) does a good job converting between stream formats.
