     1.  USING COM PORTS

     If communication errors occur during transfer to or from your
     instrument, consider the following:

     For PC's with ISA bus architecture, interrupt sharing is not
     possible when using more COM ports. So, use COM ports with
     different interrupt levels. Consider the following example:

     - Use COM1 (addr. 03F8, int. level 4) for a serial mouse.

     - Use COM2 (addr. 02F8, int. level 3) to connect a ScopeMeter
       test tool.

     - Use COM3 (addr. 03E8, int. level 5) to connect another ScopeMeter
       test tool.

     - If you want to change the interrupt level of COM3 (default 5)
       to, for example 7, change the file COMX.CFG as follows:
         replace:  COM3,03E8,5
              by:  COM3,03E8,7

     Note: On PS/2 computers with MCA bus architecture up to eight COM
           ports can be opened and interrupt sharing is supported.

     2.  EXPORTING CSV DATA FILES

     When exporting a CSV data file which contains an Info Header at the
     beginning to Excel for Windows, the following limitation applies:

     " The Description in the Info Header may not contain a comma (,). "

     Example:

         "Description", "INPUT A, INPUT B waveforms"

         Notice the comma behind INPUT A. Before importing the CSV file
         into the Excel software, change the text line, for example, to:

         "Description", "INPUT A + INPUT B waveforms"

     3.  FILE HANDLING LIMITATION
     
     The maximum number of file names shown in a list is limited to 200.
     The following example shows how to deal with this limitation.

     -  Suppose you want to open the file A_000321 in the range of files
        from A_000001 through A_000500.

     -  In the list of files only the first 200 are displayed, which are
        A_000001 through A_000200.

     -  The solution is to enter A_0003* into the <File name> field.
        As a result the file names A_000300 through A_000499 are
        displayed, from which you can select the file A_000321.

     4. STARTUP OPTION /MOUSE:N

     With this option you can specify the COM port number <n> to which
     your mouse is connected. Range <n>: from 1 through 4.
     Restart with this option if you get communication errors during
     reading of instrument screens while you moved the mouse.

     Example:  ANYWAVE /MOUSE:2
               Specifies the mouse port as COM2 and starts up the
               AnyWave software.

     There are also modems that require pin 6 of the modem to be
     connected to pin 7 and 8 of the modem instead of to pin 4.

     6. ENVELOPE COMPARE WITH PM3394 SERIES COMBISCOPES USING RS232 INTERFACE

     When the envelope compare is started, the timebase and attenuation of
     the CombiScopes are programmed with the values of the envelope. 
     Via the RS232 interface, it is not possible to set the probe factor 
     of the CombiScope.
     It is therefore necessary to set the probe factor manually on the 
     CombiScope, so that the value corresponds with the connected probe.
     The probe factor can be set by selecting the Utility button, the PROBE
     menu item and then the PROBE CORR menu item.
